I just finished The Little Schemer. The Little Schemer is a cool little book. The other two books, the Little Schemer, and the Seasoned Schemer, by Matthias Felleisen and Daniel P. I dabbled a bit in Scheme in one of my undergraduate courses and recently revisited Scheme following The Little Schemer and The Seasoned Schemer. Most of my time was spent doing the exercises, which were very worthwhile. The Little Schemer - 4th Edition.pdf. It isn't a traditional programming book for learning a language, but rather uses Scheme to teach programming constructs. After umpteen attempts with umpteen books, I'm finally slogging through "The Little Schemer." I'm on page 88 and I've just made it through my first look at (what is for me) serious recursion. MIT Press - The Little Schemer - Daniel P. Friedman will teach you functional programming using Scheme. I first noticed it in Ruby, even though it's been in JavaScript all along. SIGNING OFF FOR THE SUMMER Mata has been exceptional this year for Chelsea. In this case, the main topic is recursion. This book is recommended by one of my nerd friend when I said to him I would like to learn more computer things. Friedman, Duane Bibby, Gerald J. I'm working my way through Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (SICP), and The Little Schemer books, so I'm learning Scheme and Lisp too. Although I am terrible at computer I love it.
